Does A Mentor Do?
Mentors...
- Serve as a
role model.
- Help students
explore job readiness skills and encourage youths to graduate.
- Serve as a
resource, encouraging students to explore options after graduation.
- Introduce students
to new people, places and ideas.
- Assist students
in establishing their academic, personal and career goals.
Mentor
Profile:
- Age 21 or older.
- Interest in working
one-to-one with youth.
- Ability to impart
a non-judgmental perspective and attitude.
- Valid drivers
license and automobile insurance.
Time
Commitment:
- Four to six hours
per month for one year.
- Attend an initial
mentor training.
- Participate in
a one hour individual interview.
- Attend optional
periodic and special events.
- Weekly phone contact
with students.
