60-Day "Grace" Period

After being matched, students and mentors are given a 60-day "grace period" in order to get to know one another and build rapport. At the conclusion of this 60-day period, the student is contacted by the Mentor Coordinator and asked to make a decision regarding the match and the mentor:

If the answer is yes, students and mentors are asked to complete "Our Mentoring Agreement," and to sign it. This agreement formalizes the match and includes the "No Fault Conclusion" statement. If the student is not satisfied with the match, he or she may choose to be rematched if interested. The Mentor Coordinator must also work with the mentor regarding his or her desire. Does he/she wish to be rematched? All of this needs to be handled with the utmost sensitivity and care. The objective is to make good matches where both parties benefit.
However, students are the decision makers when determining compatibility of the match.
