Project Overview:
Be A Mentor, in partnership with RPAL, provides mentoring to youth ages 10-17.
Our mentoring program has the goal of preventing youth from becoming involved in the juvenile justice system by encouraging them to pursue their goals and passions and learn to make positive choices.
This is an in-person mentoring program where you will spend time with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about them. You might play basketball together, work on homework, or just try new foods. There is no set curriculum but there is a lot of freedom to do anything that interests you both.
What we are looking for:
Caring adults 21 or over who have reliable access to a car
Someone who is empathetic, a good listener, and wants to make a difference in the life of a young person.
A commitment of at least 1 hour a week for a full year
All mentors are required to complete a background check and training. Our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program (from beginning to end).
