Participants:

This is a reality for many children who do not have a caring adult in their life. Many of our children live in low income neighborhoods and need the guidance of a caring adult to help unleash possibilities for them. Some are foster care youth and others are dealing with having a parent or other family member incarcerated, and some who live with their families just need an adult friend to encourage them to do well in school

Project Overview:
The Be A Mentor Program partners interested community members with young people who can benefit from a mentor. This program provides services to youth regardless of age, sex, race, or socioeconomic status.

Our goal is to provide youth with positive interaction with an adult who can serve as role model and to give them healthy alternatives to destructive behaviors.

Youth can become involved in the program in various ways:
  • Youth interest
  • Parent request
  • School referral
  • Court mandate
Mentors spend at least one hour a week to help youth set and achieve goals, be a positive role model and friend, be an education and career advocate, become a permanent connection, change a life and help build a future.
